North by Northwest -- Bethany Shijo

Bethany,

Thanks for sending this sketch on. Unfortunately, I'm a little worried about leaning on this concept too heavily. Anyone in an older generation (the same that would be familiar with Hitchcock films) would think that this is an image for "The Invisible Man." And that's what you are communicating through your pictures, too. It's just too iconic of a character. If you want to go in this direction, you'll need to do some sort of twist. Perhaps his face is starting to disappear, but you can see his eyes, or his mouth? Another way you can help get us away from "The Invisible man" is by adding more to your composition. For a big theatre poster, this is a little simple. You need to add at least 1 or 2 other elements into this. Don't miss your opportunity to tell a great story (in a thoughtful way)! Also, this is feeling pretty similar to your last piece. Technically you might want to do something different than just a straight portrait.

I know this is hard--and I might seem like I being hard on you. But it's only because I'm trying to dig deep into you to get what I know you are capable of. You can do this.
